How can I get rid of bedbugs?

Question by Elysa:
How can I get rid of bedbugs?

Lately, there has been bedbugs on my mattress. I can’t sleep well because the bedbugs suck my blood. I decided to sleep in my mom’s room. I’m afraid if I can’t take care of it, the bedbugs will be everywhere in the house. I asked my brother if there are bedbugs on his bed, he said yes. I never had the bedbugs before. Does it mean my house is dirty? Can I use the Ant & Roach killer spray on my mattress to kill them?

have your family say “good night, don’t let the bed bugs bite,” before bed. LOL, just kidding, good luck finding the answer

First, are you sure you have bed bugs? Make sure you have positively identified them.

Also, moving to a new room might’ve been a bad move. Bed bugs can hitchhike on your clothes and belongings. There is a chance you’ve just brought them into your mother’s room as well.

Having bed bugs doesn’t mean your house is dirty. Dirty, cluttered conditions and poor housekeeping habits can make it easier for bed bugs to hide and harder for you to notice you have a bed bug infestation. But they don’t mean that you or your house are dirty. People living in a mansion that have a housekeeping service can still get bed bugs.

Unfortunately, bed bugs are often not something you can treat on your own. Ant and roach spray isn’t going to cut it. For one thing, most regular household pest sprays won’t kill bed bugs. In addition, bed bugs hide in the headboard, footboard, boxspring (on the inside) bed frame and places around the bed. So even if you are able to kill the bed bugs you can see, there will likely be bed bugs hiding elsewhere that will still be alive.
