You could try fogging the room, but bed bugs get down into the stuffing and fabric and they are usually impossible to get rid of.

Get rid of the couch, and clean.
There are several products on the market you can use: PT565XLO is a Pyrethrin base spray and is perfectly safe for people and pets, Sterifab is used in hospitals and institutions because it is inexpensive and drys quickly. Another product is called Lice and Bedbug Killer. They are all effective but you should treat your couch, carpet and any closeby furniture several times over a couple of months to kill all the insects and their eggs. Simply follow label directions.
Time for a new couch!!!!
If they have been in your sofa for a while, they may in other places in your house, too. You need to check closely and take necessary precautions all over the house.
Bed bugs are habitual creatures and they need you to provide their food. Though they do not want food every night, they will seek you after some time. Also these creatures reside in swarm, so there are innumerable creatures lying in wait for you. Hence it is important you get the help from professional cleaner to eliminate them. Also you might have to go for a new mattress, since it is very difficult to clean it properly without letting mold to grow in them.
Ask a professional to clean your home, along with carpets, drapes and couches and sofas. These creatures can move around and live off your pets and move over to other corners of your house. Freeing your home from them should be the most important thing to do. After they are gone for good, buy plastic style mattress covers and pillow covers that will prevent these creatures from thriving again.
