How did the saying, “Don’t let the bed bugs bite”, come to be?

Did it actually have a meaning way back when????

in colonial times (and etc.) beds were made from straw being stuffed into cloth and so there would be bugs literally in people’s beds.

Yes, it meant “don’t let the bed bugs bite” because mattresses in the old, old days were stuffed with grass, straw, animal hair…..that was known to harbor bed bugs.

I think cause you know the bugs that every person has on their beds. Well they would say that to people cause of the bugs on their bed

I’m not sure where, but somewhere they have these bugs that actually do climb into ppl beds and stuff, and without waking the ppl up, they suck their blood. I saw it on animal planet. Thx for reminding me though. No sleep tonight. :/
