Oh God… do I have bedbugs?

Question by red_chalk:
Oh God… do I have bedbugs?

I took the pillowcase off of my pillow to wash it, and saw these black spots on the pillow (looks like someone pressed a felt pen to it).
But the PILLOWCASE doesn’t have anything on it.
I don’t think if I had bedbugs they’d be going INSIDE the pillowcase, right? They’d be crawling around on top of it?
Please, please tell me this is mildew or mold (as gross as that is) and not bedbugs…
But if the “substance” can soak through the pillowcase… then there’s still a chance that it’s bedbugs, right? 🙁

It is mildew, have you washed your pillow recently? If not then it could be from sweat that stayed trapped and mildewed, basically anything that could make it damp. You wouldn’t necessarily have any markings on the pillow case because it would soak through to the pillow. Wash and dry it thoroughly. Put a little bleach in the wash, it will take out some of the discoloration and kill any spores.

any bites on your face?

buy pillow covers. You can get them at Walmart. I like the plastic ones as opposed to the cloth ones. Pillow, pillow covers, and then the pillowcase. There are many that say hypoallergenic.

How often do you change your pillowcase? I always change our bed sheets and pillow covers at least once a week. Try washing in hot water with a little chlorox. Mildew and mold can be hard to remove. If it doesn’t come out, throw it out!

Don’t know if you have bedbugs or not…I do know they are making a big comeback..when you go into a Motel, do NOT lay clothing on the beds! If you have bite marks on body, you have bedbugs…sprays, steam clean the mattress, etc.

you have bed bugs. They wouldn’t be on the pillowcase, just the pillow. Under the sheets not on them.

Vacuum the mattress daily and change sheets daily.
