How do i get rid of bed bugs?

in Bedbug Questions

Question by Tara Griffin:
How do i get rid of bed bugs?

Im confused after discovering bedbugs in my bedroom i decided to do some internet research into them and getting rid of them. All the info i have found suggests they are basically impossible to get rid of yourself and that they will basically infest every crevice in the place. This seems very extreme. Does a good clean and some over the counter spay and de-clutter not do the job. Does anyone have any experience of bedbugs and getting rid of them.

I would try using ammonia and mixing it with really warm/hot water. When my aunt had them she told me that really helped get rid of them. I would put it in a spray bottle and spray on every crevice, inch, and bed creasing in your house. This should help out alot.

You would need to apply diatomaceous earth along every inch of baseboard where you live as well as dust your mattress with it before covering it in plastic (like bedwetters need to use).

You can get DE at Lowe’s/HD. It’s cheap.

After you apply to everywhere in your home, you need to let it sit for about a week. The bugs need to be exposed to it over a few days, basically, so it can slice them up and desiccate them. Vacuum up after a week. At worst, you’ll have a dusty house, but it’s totally safe for humans and pets.

“Inorganic materials such as silica gel, boric acid, and diatomaceous earth will provide long-term control, provided they are used in an environment with low humidity. These inorganic materials have very low repellency, a long residual life, and can provide good control if thoroughly applied to cracks and crevices. ”
