Is it a good idea to buy a recycled mattress?
Hi guys,
In order to save some money (100 $ ) i am considering buying a recycled mattress. The store says that the cover is new, and inside is recycled…Is it worth it? How can i be sure that there are no bedbugs?
Please shared your experience if you have bought one.

I have not bought one, but I saw a report on one of the news shows once that it’s a very hit and miss thing. Most of the “recycled” mattress are just new covers and old, stinky insides sprayed with some fabric freshener. Very few do anything to the parts you can’t see. Personally, I’d never buy a used and/or recycled mattress, better to save money on something you don’t lay on every night not knowing who was there before.

Not really an answer to the question you asked, but do you have a local Freecycle group? Other comment – don’t do what someone did to me this week, by going off with the mattress and leaving me to pay for disposal of the base. Also, in the UK, upholstered furniture should have a fire label.

I wouldn’t recommend it.
Ask the place if everything has been sanitized or not. Here in Texas any sort of used bedding has to be sanitized and tagged.
Also if the innerspring is used, and worn out. It won’t do you any good. You risk waking up sore, it won’t offer the amount of support a new mattress would.
I also saw a news report on the hazards of buying a recycled mattress. They very commonly come with an infestation of bedbugs. I’d buy new, if I were you.
dont save the money…. wait until you can buy an affordable on that is not used…. too many things can go wrong….. also make sure that you buy from a reputable dealer…..your going to have it for a long time…. do the right thing and get a good one….
