Do I have Bedbugs in my house?

Question by Thereseanna:
Do I have Bedbugs in my house?

We just moved into a rental home and at night we have been feeling itchy everywhere while laying in the beds or sitting on the couch. I saw a tiny little bug on the mattress today when I pulled off the sheets. It was very small, med. brown and squished very easily. Bedbug, bedbug nymph or something else.
Also, our mattress sat in a storage unit for several months, could it be that or the carpet in this house?

If you can try to capture a bug without squishing it and bring it to an exterminator to identify it. It could be from the mattress or the home. Once you identify it there are sprays and bombs you can buy to kill them off.

It could be a bedbug or fleas if the items have been in storage or if the previous tenants had bugs. Fleas will multiply rapidly in a house if it’s been unoccupied with no air conditioner running. I would try to capture a bug and make sure you know what you have before trying to treat for them. Bed bugs are typically about the size of an apple seed when they are grown.

Bedbugs are at a peak nation wide. They are about the size of an apple seed once full grown.
Just today on our local news they ran a special and said that the bugs can live up to a year without feeding. They often leave small redish brown spots on the bed, it is the fecal matter. They can be tricky to get rid of. I would suggest a licensed exterminator. Check out the link below for pics and other great info.
