My mother works at a hotel…that had bedbugs…and she told me that an exterminator has to come in and spray the room which is quarantined for a week or so… but they have to get rid of the mattresses. Once bedbugs are in them…you can’t get rid of them. Sorry

What do you think? Answer below.

If you wrap items in black plastic and leave in the sun all day the heat should kill them , but there is some debate as to larger items such as a mattress whether in can heat up enough due to size.
the temperature needs to get to 60 degrees c for instant death or at least 44 constant for at least one hour for a slower kill.
Bed bugs can be difficult even for an experienced pest controller…so much so that some insurance company’s have advised pest controllers not to get involved in treating them for risk of being sued
Anyhow to go in to detail about how to to it your self would be a waste of time as you would not have legal access to the chemicals
contact a pest controller …it will need to be treated at least twice 10 to 14 day intervals and the PCO would most likely use a wettable powder or a followable powder

Just saw a show on TV about this same subject. Bedbugs are hard to get rid of because if you’ll look at where the seams are in you box springs and mattress (if your mattress and springs are the type that the seam makes like a little flap), you find it’ll be covered with them. They can be professionally sprayed to get rid of them, but the pest control person would have to go along each seam and lift it up to get to them. Then they pulled out the headboard and there were plenty of them there too. They hide in the cracks and crevices. So I guess my best answer to the question is to get a pro to come in and spray and make sure you get a written warranty and watch to see that he sprays everything and then decide for yourself rather or not to buy new bedding. Oh by the way, they said that the way you get them is when you stay somewhere they’ll attach to your luggage or clothing in your luggage and that’s how they spread. So I would say you’ll have them all over your house because of moving laundry around.
