What do you do if you suspect bed bugs?

in Bedbug Questions

Question by Shawnola:
What do you do if you suspect bed bugs?

Have been sleeping on a mattress that was in storage for a few years and now I am all itchy when I attempt to sleep on it. I don’t have any outward bites nor obvious blotchiness in an area. I am not sure what to suspect is causing the irritation, but I feel my skin is creepy crawly, even under my PJs. Strange, huh?

So is there some product I can use to stop bugs cold? Or must I resort to buying a new bed?

You can actually see bedbugs, so just flip up the covers and look in the corners of the mattress. If you have pets, it can also be fleas. Since they were in storage, it could just be a high mold content. Try using a carpet or furniture shampooer if you don’t see any bugs…let it dry completely before sleeping on the mattress again. If you’re still itchy, at that point you’ll probably just want to get a new mattress!

What do you think? Answer below.

I think bed bugs leave visible bites. Also the bugs are visible to the naked eye.
There is probably some other allergen there.
A possibility is scabies, which cause a histamine reaction and a heeby jeeby itch.

Your skin might be reacting to something other than bed bugs.

Bed Bugs are the worst thing that could happen to a persons home and very hard to get rid of. I had a bed bug problem for over a year and even after 4 pest control treatments (professional) they didn’t go away. I eventually had to move to a new apartment. Heres an article I wrote on everything bed bugs, what to do, how to spot, etc.
