Question by Maria Murphy:
How do I get rid of bedbugs!?

I’ve had bedbugs for almost a year now, and we sleep downstairs and it’s getting depressing. We don’t have enough money to call an exterminator, and sometimes all I can do is cry. I already know the basic stuff. Like spray the inside of the mattress and stuff like that, but it’s not working. PLEASE HELP!

Bedbugs were almost unheard of in the US for the past 50 years, until 10 years ago, when they were brought over in imported antiques. I’ve heard they can live for AGES without food so waiting tyhem out isn’t an option. I’ve also heard that exterminators are ineffective. What I HAVE heard that works is to pony up for a new bedframe, metal, and a new mattress. You put the legs of the bed in cans of water and the bugs can’t crawl to you. This also works with ants. Good luck sweetie! I’m itchy just thing about you guys!

http://www.badbedbugs.com This is a good site. There are different things to go into. Rubbing alcohol is good for the bites. Putting it in a spray bottle and using it on the bugs will kill them. It will not get rid of them. Getting the bed away from the wall will help. As the bugs will get in the walls. A cover for the mattress and springs keeps the bugs out of the mattress.

This is the link to a quick two page guide to get rid of them. It is important to take immediate action, before the infestation gets out of control.
