i read that bedbugs can go for over a year without eating. thats why they are so hard to get rid of. most sites suggest washing bedclothes in extremly hot water and getting rid of the mattress.

Bed bugs are VERY hard to get rid of, people usually have to throw out their mattress. I imagine it’s equally hard to get them out of your house. I would call a professional in to do it be safe.

However, you can spray rubbing alcohol on them to kill them directly.

You really need to know what kind of bug they are to get rid of them. Take a picture or go online and look for a pic so people know what you mean. Bedbugs really live in the mattress so if they’re on the walls I don’t know what they are. It also depends where you are. What part of the world, climate etc.

It may take an exterminator many times to get rid of them. Someone I knew had a guy stay at her house and got bedbugs. They had to throw all the mattresses out. The animals had to be out of the house for awhile after extermination and new beds were not put in right away. Also when exterminated infants cannot reenter the house for the first 24-48 hours. She has had the exterminator in twice so far. They can hide under dressers, in floorboards, baseboards, etc. Get a grip on it as soon as you can because they are feisty devils.
