Question by Meilin:
How does a developed country like the US suffer developing world things like bed bugs?

Why is it that developed countries like the US, where people have good access to modern technology, health, and cleaning products still suffer from developing world problems such as bed bugs?

I ask as this bed bugs are now a growing problem in the US, even though most Americans have easy access to ways to kill them, or to stop their spread.
Colin: The user is named Mazen, not Meizin. I think it’s an Arabic name. Not Chinese, and their question was about bed bugs themselves, but mine is about the current outbreak.

It’s just coincidence.

May I remind you, there is a saying Goodnight ,sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite, which is an American saying. All countries have bed bugs especially in older houses that have lots of wood or lathe and plaster wall which contain horse hair,. The old fashioned remedy was to air the mattress and clothing and wash the mattress with paraffin or get a bug exterminator. It is not a matte of neglect it is just an epidemic of bedbugs and like cockroaches are difficult to eradicate Good luck, I have had my time with them.

Although many of these pests are in the slums they do move about. I dropped some material off for a person in a semi slum area, as I was waiting while he checked the material I watched as many as ten roaches crawling across the kitchen walls. I wondered what was behind those walls. He said he tried but gave up trying to curb them.
At a huge outside Swap meet in Vegas, those that live there know of it. Three different parties were selling used mattress. They were going like hot cakes, I examined one, it was full of bedbugs. They’re suppose to be steamed cleaned when selling them and no new covers put on. They were selling as new. It’s things like this that we tend to ignore that aid in the transportation of this vermin. And, along with this, they bring the many types of infectious germs with them.
