Question by :
How do I get rid of the BEDBUGS biting me?

I’ve already tried several things and failed. I washed all my blankets. Do I have to add something to the wash? Or, make sure I use hot water? I also sprinkled flea powder on the mattress and blankets, but that did not work. It’s been over a year since I’ve had cats, so what is biting me?

You should call the local pest control. I thought that you were suppose to have your entire room sprayed ( with water vapor mist like spray) Also, the bugs can live in the mattress…..so yeah.

I work at a group home and last month we just had a HUGE infestation of bed bugs – I’m talking in all 10 bedrooms!!!!!!! So I have some experience (unfortunately! lol). Here are the steps we took:

1) Wash all of your clothes and bedding in HOT water only. Use bleach and bleach alternative. Hot water is the only thing that will kill them. Be prepared to be cleaning out your washer and dryer after for all those dead ones.
2) Bag all nonwashables in your room. CHECK them for bugs first though!!!!!!!! If anything is badly infested, you’re going to have to throw it out.
3) I highly suggest throwing away your mattress and box spring. I’d even get rid of the frame, they like hiding in that. You can keep your headboard (it can be sprayed easily).
4) You’re going to have to hire a professional to come in and spray pesticides in any rooms that are infested. We had two treatments done and have not seen any since!
5) Go out and invest in waterproof mattress covers – they help ward off future bed bugs.

Did you bring home some used furniture lately? Or used clothing? Or have you traveled recently and left your suitcases on the floor at a hotel? These are the MAJOR ways that bed bugs are making a come back!!!! And remember, anyone that has bed bugs in there home and come over and sit on your furniture, could be transporting them to your place.

I feel your pain, it was a total disaster at my work. Imagine having to do every piece of laundry for 10 people!!!! It was a nightmare. But like I said, we had two treatments and have not seen a single bug since. And we also put those covers on everyone’s bed.

Good luck!

bedbugs are becomming more of a problem and they are rather large though, compared to something like a flea or louse. Try the RID louse spray and flea spray because its possible that they got into your house from someone elses pets, fleas make there way into my house and get into the carpet when the weather starts to turn cold,so you will want to spray rugs and carpet as well if that still does not work then you need to buy a new mattress and bedding, good luck
