Question by Katrina Shen:
How long does it usually take to get rid of bed bugs?

I just recently got a bad matress and my appartment became infested with these icky bed bugs. I have already bagged and cleaned most of my stuff and chucked everything out that was material that they could live on like my sofa, beds, curtains ect…. and I have requested that someone come in and fume my apartment… but my questions is how long will it take before there gone or better yet when will I be able to have the freedom to invest into some furniture?

I was at one of the upper crust hotels about 2 years ago. My bed had bed bugs in it. I was so mad I called the Health Department. They had to discard all the furniture in the room. The Health Department quarantined the room for 30 days after it was fumigated.

They had to replace all items in my luggage including the bags themselves. Just my new clothes cost them over $ 2,000. I had a couple of expensive suits with me.They even bought me a couple pairs of new shoes.

I figure those bed bugs cost them about $ 35,000. All cloth furniture was disposed off and by the time they lost the use of the room and what they paid for my stuff.

It took us for two weeks to completely get rid of bed bugs. We had a bad infestation and did not know what to do at first. We wasted first a few weeks to try different things, like sprays and foggies,,,, but still bed bugs kept biting us. Then called exterminator company and spent $ $ $ $ $ but bed bugs still came back….

Someone told me to use Bed Bug Powder, and after starting using the powder, we got less bites every night, and finally no bites on the second week.

I wish we knew the powder at the beginning, but we learned a lot of lessons. 🙁

Bed bugs are very hard to get rid of, so you just need to be patience and use the powder! If we did not find the powder, we had no idea how to get rid them…..
