Question by Dan A:
How do I know if bed bugs have traveled to other areas of the house?

My one roommate definitely has evidence of bed bugs in his room and has since gotten rid of his mattress and box spring. My question is how easily can the move to other rooms of the house? And if I have not noticed any evidence of them in my room, is there chances that they are still there? The rooms are about 20 feet apart separated by a large open area with clothes closets in between.

Get a pest control company. Bed bugs can live for a year without eating, will move around the house on clothes, backpacks, or the like. Just getting rid of a mattress and box spring won’t do the trick.

Dan,

They do travel. They can also be resistent to the chemcials that the PCO will use.

Soem peoplehave taken to keeping a few bottles of a chemical free spray called BedBug Terminator from a company called Kleen-Free on hand to spray on the bedbugs that they see and around the room. This type of spray is a contact killer so you have to hit the bugs but they do work to kill them on contact.

You may want to order some and have a couple of spray bottles handy for any you see as well as misting your entire place everday for a while if you are not going to exterminator route.

Good luck
