I recently had two kids to sleep over my house and later found out that they had bed bugs at home. Help! Do I have them now?

Wash your sheets and blankets, mattress cover, pillows (dry with tennis ball in dryer), and vac. your mattress.

Regular old bed bugs can be gotten rid of with good old fashioned washing of the sheets and taking a bath using soap EVERYWHERE.
But if you are talking about LICE, then you’ll need to do the above prescription using a product from the Drug Store for lice and make sure it contains RAGWEED.

Ugh, bedbugs are scary! I love bugs, and love to study them, and those and ants are the only ones I fear. Here’s an excellent article about them.

I hope you don’t live in Cincinnati, Ohio… I inspect and audit housing for a living in the state of Ohio, and bed bugs are a huge problem especially in Cincinnati; however they are all over the state at this time, and the cost to exterminate is extremely expensive. Bed bugs are hitch hikers in that they will travel from home to home very easily. As inspectors we have been told by exterminators to remove our clothing upon arriving home, place it in a plastic bag, and let it sit in the sun for at least 8 hours ultimately “baking” them in order to kill them as washing does not kill them. Bed bugs are extremely small and hard to find until there are large numbers hence making them easier to find. Look in the folds of your mattress, couch, and behind headboards to start; however be aware they don’t just live in beds. They are small brown insects that “feed” on humans while they sleep. If you live in an apartment complex DO NOT drag your mattress through the hallways!! You will only spread them further if you do have them. There is a very good chance you may have them if the kids brought an overnight bag or sleeping bag from their home. Good luck, and I hope you do not have them as they are expensive to get rid of, but look closely at night when they are most active if they are there you should see them.
