Question by beyard0702:
fleas or bedbugs?? plz help!?

I had a flea issue that started a couple weeks ago (we have 2 dogs). I flea bombed the house and washed all the clothing and linens and vacuumed very thoroughly (also treated the dogs) My son was really the only one that had been getting bites on him (they weren’t bothering my youngest baby or my husband and I). After I treated the house and animals he is still getting bites on him! We got my son a different (used) mattress and boxspring about a month ago, could it possibly be bedbugs that have been biting him? and if so, would it take a month for them to start showing up?? I checked for telltale signs of them ( put tape out, and checked for feces spots and such on the mattress and boxspring) and nothing has shown up at all. Any advice on what to do next?? I am tired of my son getting bit up by whatever it is that is biting him. There little red spots that look like a flea bite ( not welting up or anything) and every once in a while he scratches them but it doesn’t seem like they are constantly itchy to him.We are not dirty people by any means, we are a very clean family. Any advice that could be offered would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
Thanks! Ive been adding garlic to my sons diet as well, I will start on the vitamin B right away

If you have bed bugs a sign of that is little blood stains on your mattress. They are hard to get rid of. I’m actually not sure how except for in some states they have dogs that can sniff them out. Then they use a substance that freezes them.

You can’t get rid of fleas in one sweep – eggs are larva survive and hatch
Some people are more susceptible to fleas bits.
Vitamin B can make insect bites less of a problem for susceptible people.

if its just your son and you have a used mattress then i would suspect bed bugs. tiny spots of blood on the sheets. yes it would take about a month for them to start bothering him. bed bugs are very small at first but after a few feedings (blood) they get bigger. if you pull the bottom sheet out very slowly from being tucked under the mattress and take a good look you will see them (if you have them) also first thing in the morning when he wakes up pull the top sheet off and take a good look on the bottom sheet for signs. they sort of look like a tick. i hope you don’t have them but if you do i would call and extermanater that specializes in bed bugs.
if you have them they would be in other areas of his room too, on dressers and end tables.
