Going to a place with BEDBUGS!! 10 PTS!?

Question by John:
Going to a place with BEDBUGS!! 10 PTS!?

Hi everyone.

I have a conference in a building this upcoming week. They found bedbugs on the 26th floor of the building and I’m going to be in the theatre on the bottom floor for a presentation. Should I be worried about bedbugs throughout the building or not? If so, what preventative measures can I take? Not attending is not an option, for it will look bad for my company!

Thanks in advance and as always, 10 points to the best answers.
I don’t have to give a presentation nor am I a part of the presentation. I just need to be in attendance.
By the way, it is an OFFICE BUILDING, not a hotel. Just wanted to clarify.

I really think you should concentrate more on your presentation.
You will be much more comfortable and putting your mind to something as important as what you’re doing should take your mind off the bugs.
To conclude, you really shouldn’t be worried

Yes you should be worried about bed bugs.

You will know if you’ve been bitten yourself the next morning if you have very itchy small white circles with a red dot in the middle on exposed skin during the night.

If you want to check your room before you agree to sleep in it, look at the woodwork on the bed and furniture and in the seams of the mattress. You will not see the bugs themselves but if you see small black dots, then there are bugs around.

If you have to stay in a room that has been infested, it’s not the end of the world just make 100% sure that you wash EVERYTHING when you get home and check your baggage and any paper documents or books you had with you THOROUGHLY. If you don’t check, you could unwittingly introduce them into your home and they are a real pain to get rid of. Your neighbours will not thank you either.

Good luck. Relax, just get educated and check for those black dots and bites the next morning. On the upside, if you get bitten, you will probably be able to push for some kind of compensation from the building owners.

Mind your bag, and use a plastic one if possible. Bedbugs spread. You shouldn’t be too worried about spending time there, though, especially if the room you are in lacks plush surfaces.

If you are not going to sleep on the 26th floor you should have nothing to worry about.
don’t let it distract you from giving a presentation, bedbugs usually go out at night, so let it go

Just don’t sit down on plush seats . or anything that bed bugs can crawl into. Bed Bugs can travel, so you never know where that can be. I was at someones house and they had them in their couch n they TORE me up. so just be careful and make sure your skin is fully covered.

Since it’s imperative that you attend, I’d just suggest being VERY careful.

And you’re not sleeping there are you? Just make sure your hotel doesn’t have them, and you should be fine.

If the owner of the office or the building’s landlord called an bedbug expert to remove them, you should be find.

There is nothing to worry about.

Good luck
