Dorm bed- ways to make it more comfortable?

in Bedbug Questions

Question by Amelia Celeste:
Dorm bed- ways to make it more comfortable?

What combination of foam pads, mattress protectors (for bedbugs) and mattress pads/toppers can I use to make a nice, soft, comfy bed? And what order would I stack them in, i.e, protector and then foam pad and then sheets? Thanks!
Would I put everything on top of the mattress and then put the mattress protector over it, or only put the protector over the actual mattress?

I use a thick foam mattress pad and a pillow top mattress pad (foam on the bottom directly on the dorm mattress), all under the fitted sheet, and my dorm bed is more comfortable than my one at home.
