Do rodents serve as hosts in bedbug transmission?

Question by eiskalte.leiche:
Do rodents serve as hosts in bedbug transmission?

I’ve spotted a few Peromyscus mice around lately and have been waking up with terribly itchy red wheals on my legs and torso… which could very possibly be bedbug bites. I’ve never had this problem before, so I’m wondering if the mice can bring in what may be bedbugs.
In any case, I need an exterminator.

interestingly enough Mus musculus have been observed in lab environments to transport many varieties of household pests; this is done by the mouse scooping up as many of the desired objects (in your case, bedbugs) in its pouchlike cheeks and carrying them to the desired location. this behaviour is most commonly performed while settling territorial confrontation. in one case a young mouse reportedly carried live fire ants in its cheecks from a nearby mound to its adversary’s den . the other mouse was found dead due to fire ant bites to the eyes. FIRE ANTS.

EYES.

Thusly demonstrating the common house mouse’s ability to implicate stealth tactics far more advanced than previously percieved.
