Luke P has some good advice. You could also launder your bedding in hot water setting when you wash them. The heat type methods are the best. It kills them instantly. It is best to change your bedding and wash them regularly; weekly if possible. But if you are like me and may not own your washer & dryer, keeping up with laundry can be expensive and may have to be reduce to a bi-monthly or bi-weekly occurrence. As long as your can change your bedding regularly, it will be okay. You have be careful with which steaming device you choose to use. There are some steamer that create an excessive amount of water before it can be turned into steam resulting in a watery drip from the machine which can wet your bedding. It easier to do than washing, you just have to be do your research on the product. If you can see demonstration or be able to return it for refund after trying it at home, that would be the best way to go.

You need to get rid of them both in the bed and where they breed and hide – namely small cracks and crevices in the room.

General purpose sprays such as Suspend SC that are water safe for fabrics are preferred for elimination of bed bug populations. Suspend SC is odorless and (when used as directed) is safe to use in homes where children and pets live. (The active ingredient in Suspend is Deltamethrin, the same material found in Delta Dust.) Apply your spray to baseboards, carpets, flooring, throw rugs, area rugs or other areas where bed bugs might crawl at night, after thoroughly vaccuuming all areas including the bed. Do not spray bedding, mattresses or pillows with this product.

If you want to spray these objects, use a spray that is labeled for such use. Claire Lice Killer can be sprayed on inanimate objects such as bedding, stuffed animal toys, etc. in homes.

The professionals recommend dusting after you spray, to kill the adults you didn’t get with the fast killing spray.

Finally, get yourself a really good mattress cover specifically designed to keep out dust mites – they’ll also keep the bedbugs from getting back in the mattress.

A lot of people have asked me how to get rid of bed bugs because I have been through to fight with them 🙂

We did hire a “professional” exterminator, but bed bugs came back after for a while as you experienced. We tried sprays and fogs all kinds of stuff. Sprays and fogs can kill bed bugs fast, and it seems to work very well, but bed bugs are very good at hiding. Again, they came back after a few days.

Then we found BedBugPowder from the site below. The powder is natural and no chemical contained, so it is human and animal safe.

Wash all your bedding items with HOT water and use a steam cleaner to kill the existing bed bugs. Then simply sprinkle it on all the bedding items including the headboard and all the cracks along the bed.
Actually we learned that using a plastic mattress cover was not a good idea. It created more spots for bed bugs to hide.

We have not gotten bites since we started using the BedBugPowder. It works very well.

Good luck!

Bed Bugs can no longer be treated by pesticide companies because the bed bugs have grown resistant to the chemicals. You are just wasting your money if you go that route.

I have used a pesticide free bed bug treatment that really works. If you go to http://www.deadbedbugs.com you will see their products which include using steam, their non toxic bed bug spray contact spray, Eco-dust for long term prevention, plastic mattress covers and bags. I got a regimen sheet and followed the instructions and never had bed bugs again.

They also offer a product to treat the bed bug bites that relieves the itch and heals any tear in the skin from scratching.

They offer an informational eguide about bed bugs so you can learn more about them and they also offer a large FAQ knowledge base.
