Question by Xena:
Are bed bugs a proper reason to move out of NYC?

I have lived in NYC for 12 years. I just found a live bed bug on my bed (no other signs of infestation). I am now having a nervous breakdown. Should I move out of the city permanently?

No way, a stupid bug shouldn’t ruin ur life lol. Buy some of the bug spray at pretty much anywhere, but get the kind that can also repel them as well.

What do you think? Answer below.

Considering they are everywhere there is no point in moving. They will be wherever you move too.

That’s really not a very good reason to move. If you are freaking out (I would be too), the best thing to do is to call an exterminator. They are the only ones who will be able to know for sure if you have a problem or if this was just an isolated bug. Also, if you do have them, exterminators will be able to properly get rid of them. There are do it yourself methods, but they don’t tend to work very well. Just watch for other signs for a couple days, but if you are really paranoid, then call an expert.

No, because New York City isn’t the only area that has them and if you opt to move to a major city, likely they will wind up there anyway, especially if you move into an apartment building. People in Europe and parts of Asia have been living with bedbugs literally for centuries and continue to do so today. You are probably not really having a nervous breakdown, if you were, it’s unlikely you would have been able to type this question.
