Some people in our church bought a bed that came infested with bed bugs. They had to get rid of the bed and have an exterminator come in and do all kinds of special things in their home to get rid of them. It was insane!! I wouldn’t mess around with home remedies or store bought bug sprays. Bed bugs can hide in absolutely everything!

all of the brand names are trashh, trust me!! i’ve tried everyyything. just try this simple remedy:
put three tablespoons of basil and one tablespoon of oregano into a small plastic bowl (don’t use metal cuz that deactivates the “magicc””) now add organic maple syrup and honey, measurements don;t relllay matter 😉 and then add powdered milk until the mixture becomes a thick paste. now spread it onto several paper plates and place them at the four corners of ur bed!! MAGIC!! it really works, trust me.

You may end up needing an exterminator to deal with this but I think you should look at some do-it-yourself options that you can spray on your furniture including your mattress to see if it is salvagable.

There are several chemical free bedbug products available. The one that I have used is called BedBug Terminator and it is sold online by a company called Kleen-Free. It will kill the bedbugs on contact as well as their eggs. You just spray it everywhere for a few days.

You do need to be patient and persistent with this or any treatment as bedbugs hide well and can go weeks without feeding.

Also, not sure if you live in an apartment and if the bedbugs have spread or not but everyone needs to treat them and not just you – maybe you can split the cost of whatever you choose.

Good luck

Getting rid of these pests can take months and requires dedication and perseverance, but it can be done.Things You’ll Need:
Plastic bed wraps
Plastic pillow wraps
Duct tape
An exterminator
Rubbing alcohol
Recognizing bedbugs early is the key to effective extermination. Usually people notice bites or other signs before seeing an actual bedbug. Look for: small, red bumps or bites on your arms and legs; and black or red marks or tiny tears in your mattress, box spring, and pillows.

Step 2Bedbugs usually come out in the wee hours of the morning, so if you suspect you have them, wake up between 4 am and 6 am and examine the mattress. Bedbugs are generally about the size of the average flea and are reddish-brown.

Step 3Once you have determined, or at least suspect, you have bedbugs, you must address the problem immediately! If you live in an apartment building, contact your superintendent and/or landlord as soon as possible. It is the landlord’s responsibility to pay for the extermination AND alert your neighbors.

Step 4While a trustworthy exterminator will do most of the job, you must take several steps to banish bedbugs. First, launder all of your clothes, towels, blankets, etc. Dry everything thoroughly on the hottest settings, as heat is one of the few things that effectively kills bedbugs.

Step 5Next, wrap your mattress, box spring and pillows in plastic or synthetic wraps that zip or seal closed. You can find these at most Bed Bath and Beyond or Target stores. Seal the zippers shut with duct tape.

Step 6As tempting as it may be, do NOT sleep on your couch to escape bedbugs. They will follow you and then you will have a bed AND a couch full of them.

Step 7Store your clothes, towels etc in resealable bags to prevent further infestation. Bedbugs usually only like to live in your bed, but they will move to your clothes and rugs if desperate!

Step 8A knowledgeable exterminator knows he or she must spray at least two or three times in order to wipe out a bedbug infestation. In many cases, it is more. In between visits, a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol can be used in bedbug “hotspots”– bed frames, etc.
Bedbugs are extremely tenacious. Don’t give up the fight!Bedbugs spread often between the walls of apartment buildings. Be a responsible neighbor and exterminate! Some venues online sell chemicals to exterminate bedbugs. Do NOT try to treat bedbugs yourself! You need the assistance of a professional.
