Does anyone know where bedbugs came from and how did ohio become so infested?

Bedbugs have been a pest of man since man first walked the earth. Bedbugs were a huge problem in this country in the 1040’s and early 1950’s but were pretty much wiped out. In the late 1990’s Bedbugs began to appear again in the US. Many believe it is because of increased international travel. Over the last decade they have slowly spread from big cities (where the airports and tourist hotels are located) to the suburbs.
Nobody has a clear answer as to why Ohio ranks so high on the list of infested states but they do.
