Question by Rach:
Are the bed bugs really that out of control in NYC?

I am suppose to be going to NYC at the end of November – When I booked this trip the bed bugs weren’t talked about – Now that my trip is getting closer I keep hearing from the media that the bugs are getting worse & worse! Should I cancel my trip?

I am suppose to be staying at the Hilton on Ave of the Americas – Going to see the Radio City Christmas Show – Going on a holiday tour of lights bus tour – & to the Empire State Building.
Are any of those places safe to be at?

The bed bugs are getting really bad in New York, but as of right now I would not recommend to go. Bed bugs can carry 24 known pathogens, according to Baumann. The diseases are transmuted when you are bitten by the bedbug. The infestation is out of control right now (only for New York), because they have the Bark Bedbug in that global area, and to days poisons are not able to kill it. If you do go, just check that the bed or any cloth surface you come in contact with has no Bedbugs on it.

The Hilton on sixth is classy. Believe me if you report bed bugs in your room, the hotel will send in exterminators from as far away as Kentucky and give you another room with an extra day free.

No do not cancel your trip. Bed Bugs are a problem but it is not an epidemic and I only know one family that got them and they got an exterminator and solved thew problem in no time. Although they are annoying they are not poisons and do not carry communicable diseases. Do not listen to alarmist drivel from people who go to schools that no one has ever heard of.
