yikes!

you need to thoroughly spray all bedding, cupboards and carpet with surface spray!

on second thought you may just have to get a pest control company to fumigate your home…insecticides!!!

if you’re renting…maybe this is paid for by landlord…it’s not fair to be in an apartment that is infested.

these bugs are not just annoying, they bite!

You can try to put some flea powder in your vacuum. Wash all your bedding in the hottest setting you can, if you can use bleach, great. Remember you can use bleach for colors too. Vacuum the mattress, making sure to get every crack and fold you can get. Vacuum the floors and furniture. You can wash or vacuum the curtains. You can spread some flea powder around on the floors. You would need to do this every five to seven days for two or three weeks. It may take care of it. Remember that they can also be in yours clothes, drawers and closets.
Another thing you can check out is your local TV station’s web site. Bedbugs were in the news not that long ago and your station may have info on them on their web site.
Good Luck!

Bed bugs are immune to any pesticide you could buy over the counter. Your apartment manager will get them treated for you however, you will have to reimburse them for the charge. Generally $ 250.00 to $ 300.00.

Moe,

For do it yourself, take a look at some of the enzyme based BedBug Products out there. One that I hear about that seems to work ss called BedBug Terminator by Kleen-Free.

This works to breakdown the skeleton of bugs and eggs that it comes into contact with. Website says it is non-toxic so you can spray it yourself and not worry about kids, pets etc.

Good luck.

Bed bugs are everywhere, and you can pick new ones up from cars, doctor’s office, subway, streets, even at stores. So, it is easy to get reinfected. Too easy. In New York, we have a species that is different from the rest of the country and pest control has no sprays that can kill it.

So, if you want to get rid of it yourself, they are so small, two dozen little ones can fit on a head of a pin. They like folds of seams in clothes and blankets. They hide in books, mail and magazines. Using steam cleaning on everything, yes, everything will help. Also, if in a cold area, they do not like cold, so they freeze easily. But with warm weather coming, they will look for anything with blood, pets too.

Since we don’t want to freeze our pets or favorite shoes, you can seal your mattress in plastic (if PVC, it is another issue and hazard). Put double stick tape around all legs on all furniture, especially your bed. You can also fill bowls with oil and put your bed legs in them to check them. Seal what you cannot inspect in plastic. Clothes need to be cleaned, sealed. If you wash your good white blouse and there are some in it, you will end up with “blood” spots left behind by the cooked bugs. Washing in cold water doesn’t kill them, but the dryer or sun will. If you can hang your rugs and clothes outside, you can get rid of many. But they hid in furniture, underneath sofas, inside cushions. So, what to do?

Practically seal up everything and go piece by piece to look for “nests”. Use steam cleaning with uv light to go over any fabic covered items, like chairs. Use double stick tape on even kitchen table legs. Do not leave anything out. Even behind frig. and stove and hid them.

Another way, is to use frozen carbon dioxide from a company that can come in once you seal up everything and freeze what you couldn’t reach or do. They charge from $ 300 to $ 500 a room. Very expensive pest.

Make sure you change clothes when you come home and leave in bag to inspect. Also, change shoes and keep floors clean and washed frequently with steam after washing them good.

I hope this helps.
