What is a Permanent way to get rid of Bed Bugs?

Question by Silver:
What is a Permanent way to get rid of Bed Bugs?

Every morning I wake up with more and more bites on me. Earlobe, arm, back, legs… They itch but are not painful. Yesterday I took all my covers off and saw a small, triangular, brown bug. It looked like a bed bug but not one I had seen before. I’m thinking of using a Bug Bomb (also known as a Fogger) to get rid of them, but my friend said they will return later on. Is there a permanent way to get rid of bed bugs?

Burn the old mattress and box springs and get a new one. Wash anything else from the bed that you can, sheets, mattress cover in bleach and steam clean the carpet. Good luck.

Purchase a plastic, zip up cover for your mattress. The cover will prevent any more critters from infesting your mattress, and the ones that may already in your mattress will die along with the dust mites. Should you decide to purchase a new mattress altogether, get the cover on it and you won’t have any problems with them in the future.

Silver,

Sounds like bedbugs to me.

You may end up needing an exterminator to deal with this but I think you should look at some do-it-yourself options that you can spray on your furniture including your mattress to see if it is salvagable.

There are several chemical free bedbug products available. The one that I have used is called BedBug Terminator and it is sold online by a company called Kleen-Free. It will kill the bedbugs on contact as well as their eggs. You just spray it everywhere for a few days.

You do need to be patient and persistent with this or any treatment as bedbugs hide well and can go weeks without feeding.

Also, not sure if you live in an apartment and if the bedbugs have spread or not but everyone needs to treat them and not just you – maybe you can split the cost of whatever you choose.

Good luck

Sue
