Question by JAMES G: How to prevent bed bugs from getting on me?
I was wondering if they make some thing I can spray on myself that is safe that will repel bed bugs. I know there are some in my apartment complex and my place has been treated for them. I’m gladly able to say they are gone, but I don’t want them back.

check your mattress for small black dots on it, also check your sheets, just wear some lotion or insect reppleant that repels ticks and fleas.
once a bedbug bites you it injects you with a toxin that paralyses you and keeps you asleep so you wont wake up while it feeds off you.. just a small fun fact :]
I don’t think they do. I have a friend who works in a motel and she said they had to get rid of the mattresses and burned them. Maybe try a fogger bomb. We have lots of bugs here in Florida and bombs work really well.

Since you have already treated your apartment, prevention is the most important step. Wash your sheets in hot water and bleach weekly. If your bedroom windows let sun in that will reach your mattress, do that as often as possible. Wash your blankets and covers every few months, also.
If your mattress is more than five years old, replace it. In 5 years time the weight of your mattress doubles because there are so many bedbugs in it.
Clean clean clean!!
Wash all of your sheets in hot water with a little bit of beach in in the water, and buy a new mattress or a plastic cover that allergy patients use to cover a mattress.
Have all of your floors (and especially carpets) professionally cleaned on the same day that you wash your sheets (and apartment), in bleach–including all surfaces that can be touched.
If all else fails, you might want to consider moving if you can–just because you’re being diligent about trying to eradicate the bugs, everyone else is your apartment building might not be, so the bugs may eventually reinfest everywhere.
