It was going on in New York as a way of life in old movies from the 70’s and a lot of homeless people have been doing it for years now as a way of life.

Its not new, i heard of people doing it years ago. bed bugs maybe. if its the dumpster diving i think it is ,it where someone will go to the back of a big name store an pick out objects that might be slightly broken or damaged. most people would wash any pillow or blankets .it illegal to do so i have heard.
since they are homeless, and don’t have a bed, there is no need to worry about bed bugs
