Question by may_1010:
does a bedbug bite hurt when they first bite you?
My doctor thinks it’s a mosquito that’s been biting me, but I think it might be bedbugs. I haven’t seen any yet, nor have I seen a mosquito. I live in Brooklyn, NY in an apartment building. All I know is I have horrible allergic reactions to the bites. So, does a bite from a bedbug sting enough to wake you up in the night?

It itches, no mosquitos this time of year. Pets? fleas?
See what happens when your mom doesn’t say,
“Sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs bite?” 😉
Seriously, though, mosquitos and bedbugs are difficult to “feel” until after they have bitten you, and they leave distinctly different bite marks. Your doctor knows this (or, at least, hopefully so!).
While it’s possible that you have both in your home, it is unlikely that your doctor would be so mistaken.
Therefore, take whatever preventative measures you need, per the links, below, to convince yourself that it is one or the other (or both!), and then eliminate it/them, and then you won’t have the problem!
P.S. Don’t blame this on Brooklyn!!! 😉
Bed bugs typically leave little black stains where they have defecated. Check your mattress and linens.
Bed bugs don’t bite , they itch.
