Question by roben:
bedbugs’ spreading in only one place? makes sense?

ive been out of my 3br apartment for the summer, subletting my room. one of the other tenants complained for having bed bugs in his room. surprisingly, my sublet and the other roommate didn’t complain about having them in their respective rooms. Does it make sense that bedbugs ‘make a nest’ in just one place in the whole apartment, without spread themselves around ? is it that just one room is infected?

what should u suggest to do?

thanks in advance,

a worried bedbugs potential victim :\

Bedbugs disperse actively by walking (up to 3 m) and passively (in clothing, luggage, furniture, etc.). Current resurgence of world bedbug population is partially attributed to increase in traveling worldwide and, therefore, enhanced transmission.

So, only one room is infected until somebody brings bugs to other rooms, i.e. the rooms, which are not infected yet are not somehow “immune” to the infestation.
To prevent appearance of bedbugs in your room do not forget to lock it (so that nobody toss bugs in it while you are out). Buy repellent or something and spray entrance to your room. By these measures you will stave bugs off for some time, but it can be just temporary measures – until infested rooms are sanitized, the chance of infestation remains.
