Wow.
I just read something about how we are having a total come back of the pest. They say it is due to the increased international travel.
I would say unless you know the source of the infestation to begin with they could come back.
Bedbugs are notoriously difficult to locate. They hide in mattresses and furniture, under floorboards, and even inside electrical equipment, emerging to feed only when it’s dark. Adults can survive up to a year without blood, allowing infestations to persist through periods when properties are vacant.

If you scroll down the page this person discusses how they got rid of them and advises on several things.
He also mentions that if it is in an apratment building the entire building needs to be treated.
Good Luck

I am in the hospitality industry; bedbugs are nasty little pests. they can hide behind picture and anything hung on walls, also behind mouldings, baseboards, switch plates. Also they can live in your vacuum cleaner, make sure that you empty the bag and/or clean the container. They travel on people. They can also live for 6 months without feeding, and the eggs are harder to kill. YOu may not see them now but they may still be there. Check your mattress they like to live in the folds. good luck.
