Anybody know a way to eliminate BEDBUGS ?
The only way I seem to be able to find is to have the exterminator come out for $ 1,000.00 and seal the Apt. then heat to 140 degrees for a couple of hours !!
A big pain as anything that can melt has to be removed such as candles, vertical blinds etc.
Any ideas ??

Eucalyptus-based insecticides can be effective against them, and some say that black pepper is also useful. The difficulty with bedbugs is that although there are pesticides to kill bedbug nymphs and adults, the eggs can usually only be killed by heat.
The thermal death point for adult bedbugs is 107 degrees F for seven minutes, and 120 degrees for twenty minutes kills all stages of life. Cold has little effect on them, although cold below 0 degrees F will kill bedbugs in four days. Bedbugs can’t cross petroleum jelly, so a ring around the doorway will keep them out of uninfested areas, just as long as you don’t go in to the room either.
Bedbugs tend to stay close to their hosts so they can get an easy meal, hence BED bugs. They also might stay in clothing that isn’t washed much, like jackets, hats, shoes, etc. They can’t be starved out, since some species can go for six months without food. They come out to feed at night, but during the day they stay well hidden in the crevasses of bed frames and the folds of sheets. They can move about as fast as an ant.
If the infestation is serious, then I’m afraid you’ll have to go for the professional method. Bed bugs are extremely difficult to eradicate.

Washing your bedding and things with a half cup of baking soda and a little less soap will kill the bugs. Put things straight from the dryer into sealed containers or sealed bags.
Washing things that can be washed with rubbing alcohol will kill them.
Bed bugs come out of the walls and closets during the night.
Target sells zip up mattress covers and they need to be left on mattress for one year.
Some people steam clean their carpet.
That sounds like a rip off. It would be a good deal for you to get other prices. That would be easier than doing it your self. You could turn your heat up to 100 yourself. It does not take 140.
