How to deal with hostel with bed bugs?

Question by ez:
How to deal with hostel with bed bugs?

Already booked (w/o refund) a hostel, which turns out to be infested with bed bugs. If I bring my own sheets, will it help? or will the bugs still come to my sheets and me? What’s the best thing to do?
Oh, also, will I bring the bugs with me when I return from the trip? Do the bugs stay on my clothing etc?
Thanks. I would have canceled the booking, but they already charged me for first day without refund 🙁

i would un-book it i guess
you can get diseas, skin rashes, and anyways
just think about sleeping in that.
and bringing your own sheets wont help either, because, and yes, they can get into your cloths

My brother was in similar situation and he sprayed the bed with bug spray and had no problems at all.

wow. Sorry to hear that. I would go get a different place to sleep. I would even sleep on the floor if needed. That would be better then sleeping with bugs.. lol

How do you know the hostel has bedbugs if you haven’t been there?

What site did you book the hostel through?

Bed bug eggs are very very tiny & sticky–so you can get them on everything that comes in contact with the eggs and spread them all over. DDT is the pesticide that works best with them (which is now illegal); many non-professional pesticides do not work. Has the hostel had a professional pesticide erradication? If not, you need to decide if its worth it to lose the first night’s $ and not risk infestation as well as possibility of taking them on the plane, to other hotels, and home with you; or to chance it. Also, you get a pretty nasty, itchy rash—traveling with that will be loads of fun…
