Can bed bugs live in your television, computer or stereo?

Question by Samantha L:
Can bed bugs live in your television, computer or stereo?

We are moving to a new (bed bug free) apartment in a few days from a pretty severely infested older apartment. We do NOT want to bring these horrible things with us. We are not bringing any furniture. Just our clothes (which will be washed in hot water before hand), our dvds and tapes and our electronics. I know how to treat everything else, but not the electronics. Help!?!?!? If I leave my computer outside overnight in the cold (wrapped in plastic of course) is there a chance it won’t work? I really need some answers!

Thanks,
Sam

Yes, cockroaches too.

Fumigate and incinerate.
(anyone who thumbed this down last time — eat it)

Cockroaches are the biggest culprits for electronics. Bugs ‘hide’ in dark, undisturbed & warm places. Electronics fit that description of a ‘home’ perfectly. The darn things.

Sorry, can’t give answer if cold hard on your electronics.
But if cold where they are now AND have a warmer place to go – – they will more (have something that could serve as tempting?) BUT, eggs layed will still be there.

Put electronics in a CLOSED, VERY CLOSED container with Borax in box. Each one that gets into that, will die. Give enough time for hatchlings to get into it, too. Then, bring into new place.

This is a good site:

Hold on, I’m looking for specific answers to your questions.

Basically, if you don’t treat your stuff, you will bring them to the new place, but I can’t find any temperature information.

Maybe call an exterminator for advise.
