Sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite: it’s a pretty daunting message to give to kids before they go to bed. Adults don’t really like the idea of getting bitten while they sleep either. Bedbugs aren’t just a storybook tale, like monsters in the closet, they’re actual insects. Since World War II, bedbug infestation is on the rise. If you don’t do something about them you really will “let the bedbugs bite.”

You can either (a) call an exterminator which will probably cost you about $ 500 for a series of visits or (b) they have spray that is kind of hard to find which is about $ 4.00 a can. With the spray, you should spray the room and close the door and do again for about five days. Also, get a mattress plastic cover after you have sprayed the mattress. Depending on how infested your apartment is, this should work. Also, I suggest watching your pillows and comforters in extremely hot water.

I don’t believe there is anyway to get rid of them completely on a mattress. But washing all of your sheets on hot kills them. And vacuuming your mattress with every sheet change will help keep them down. Good luck.

Your best bet is to wash all the bedding in HOT water, shampoo the carpet, and get a new mattress.

Good luck!
