I’m not a prostitute. I actually work at a major television network in New York City, where bedbugs have recently become a serious problem. The bugs are not a physical health hazard (though they do suck blood and leave itchy welts), but are virtually indestructible. If they end up coming home with me, I’ll likely have to get rid of my furniture and carpets at the very least, incurring major expenses that I cannot afford.

Ask your mom to pray for you like she did when you were little.

Sleep/Work tight… don’t let the bed bugs bite.

Seriously… You do not have to go into work in a place that is unsafe, unhygenic or a health risk. You can demand they remedy the situation… but they don’t have to pay you while they work it out.

You make your employer aware and if they don’t do anything about it,report it to Public Health.

yes your workplace is bed, as a child, you don’t have many rights, and yes you are required to go into the office held by your mother.

If you report this to your local Public Health department, they must follow up with a site visit and the business will have to remedy the situation. Let Public Health handle this. If you want to collect your paycheck, though, you must go to work.

Depends, if you are an exterminator by profession, you are required and expected to deal with vermin. In any other profession you entitled to a vermin free workplace. If you have already asked that your employer deal with the problem and he has refused, see if he can be reported to the local Department of Health and check to see if the building can be condemned by the local Building Department.

If nothing can be done you have a decision to make. Do you want a job with bugs, or would you rather quit and look for another one without bugs?

Its your decision, and you have to make it. It depends on what is important to you and your financial ability to make the transition from one job to another.
