Can bedbugs survive in a NYC Hotel bathroom?

in Bedbug Questions

Question by Jamerican Steve:
Can bedbugs survive in a NYC Hotel bathroom?

I know they can hide in beds and nearby curtains but can they hangout and survive in the bathroom?

I figure the bathroom is cleaned a bit stricter so that would be a safe place to keep my luggage.

They can survive without any food for one year, the best way to kill them using some chemical, exposed to sunshine and let cold air blowing.

bathroom should be free from bed bugs since like you already mentioned, there is no place, such as bed or curtains for them to hide. but there might be other type of bugs and bateria though

I don’t see what would prevent them from surviving in the bathroom. However, it is likely that they would not since the bathroom is probably the furthest from any food source (unless you are sleeping in the tub). Bedbugs are of course going to be predominantly near the bed or couch.

Although if the hotel also has a rodent problem than this could contribute to the scattering of bedbugs around the room since they sometimes use rodents as a temporary food source.

But either way I think the bathroom would be a safe place for your luggage if you are looking to prevent bedbugs from hitch-hiking home with you
