I heard recently that a child returned a library book and bed bugs were in them. They had to close the library.

No, bed bugs cannot live on paper, so no newspapers, mail, or even library books, is going to have them. The article is wrong, or (intentionally) confused fleas, which can hitch a ride on just about anything, and bedbugs. Probably because “bed bugs” are current and “trendy.”
