an exterminator sprayed Tempo for bedbugs and I have been experiencing a numbness and/or a dull ache in the inside of my elbow. I also have weekness in my forearms to the point i cannot lift groceries. Can this be from exposure to the Tempo?

Probably! Tempo is beta-cyfluthrin (a Pyrethroid Compound) and symptoms of poisoning can include ‘Irritability to sound or touch, abnormal facial sensation, sensation of prickling, tingling or creeping on skin, numbness.”

Pesticides can cause something called axonal degeneration, which involves (simply put) damage to the transmitting/conducting part of the neuron (nerve cell). That probably doesn’t sound simply put, but pesticides can be a “nerve poison” and can damage the axon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axon, causing loss of feeling like you’re having.

I am very, very sensitive to pesticides and herbicides. I’ve had (fortunately temporary) numbness, tingling, and loss of muscle use after exposure to a pesticide/herbicide used to spray wheatfields.

This certainly isn’t intended to scare you. If this has been happening for more than one week, you may want to see your physician. Nerves can repair themselves, but you should avoid all pesticide exposure if possible from now on!
