Question by Ray:
Can uv light detect and kill bedbugs?

The entire floor of my office building has bed bugs I was wondering if UV light can detect bedbugs and kill them. If not is there another device that can help me detect bed bugs. Please provide a link to the products. Thanks.

There was a recent study that showed that C02 is the most effective attractant for bedbugs. I don’t think UV light would work for attracting them, though it might detect their excrement. They usually scurry away from light. the first link below tells you how to build an effective bedbug trap using dry ice. You may have trouble killing all of them, however, as they are extremely hard to completely eradicate. If you do think you succeed, I would continue to using the trap occasionally for the next year or so until all eggs and all sleeping bedbugs have been detected. They can live for years in hidden cracks without food.

No, u-v light won’t help. In a small room, like a bedroom, you can defeat them by liberally sprinkling diatomaceous earth and boric acid powder into all cracks and between the sheets and the mattress. But in an office building the only possible cure is a total fumigation.
