Question by delia:
MY NEW APT. HAS BEDBUGS– should my leasing co. buy me a new mattress?

I finally figured out I don’t have skin parasites or a new allergy. My new apartment has bedbugs. I am relieved but apprehensive. I heard they can live in your mattress for almost a year without food. I don’t want that! I think my leasing company should definitely pay for an exterminator, right? Should they reimburse me for a new mattress set? That sh*t’s expensive!!!
I moved in the day after Thanksgiving. I don’t think the infestation is very bad, but I definitely do not like it. I am very unhappy.
Bed bugs do not come from within. Inner peace comes from within. Bedbugs come from bedbug eggs laid in the cracks in the walls and stuff. Washing your sheets regularly has nothing to do with it. They do not spontaneously generate in response to poor hygiene.
and no they don’t eat dead skin; that’s dust mites which are harmless. Bedbugs DRINK HUMAN BLOOD. DO YOU KNOW WHAT I AM LIVING WITH?!? I CANT BELIEVE THEY HAVE BEEN CRAWLING ON ME WHILE I SLUMBER

Are you sure you did not get them from some other furniture you brought in the house?
There’s no way to prove you got them from the apartment.

No…..

Your bed bugs were ALREADY IN YOUR BED……

BED BUGS Do NOT COME FROM Out OF The Blue, they come from within.

So, NO, your apt. bldg does owe you a new bed…..

You need to buy yourself a new bed…. & only you.

I would even go so far as to look for a new place. Report what is going and be open to their suggestions, otherwise, it could be a small claims court issue.

how long have you lived in your apt. I dont think they will pay for your mattress but they are responsible to hire a exterminator. they maybe able to clean your mattress.

Absolutley, they not only need to rid the bugs at their expense, they need to buy you a new bed.
