can bed bugs climb up walls and metal?

i dont have bed bugs, but this whole bed bug thing going around has got me freaked out. my bed is a metal loft bed. so can bed bugs get up there? and do they burrow in mattresses and pillows? and if bedbugs are such a problem why cant scientists and extirminators just kill them out of existance?

They’re a bug; they can climb anywhere. They lurk between mattress and box springs so check there often.

Yes! Bedbugs have been in the news quite a bit recently. There are safety precautions you can use to limit yourself in self-defense. Wash your clothing and bedding in hot water all the time. You and your visiting friends should leave their shoes outside the entrance door as these bedbugs can be tracked in on the soles of your shoes. Monitor your guests and make sure they don’t bring just anything into your residence which may carry these critters. Bedbugs can’t be exterminated easily as they are hard to see and there are “zillions” of them to conquer. They lay eggs by the thousands, so, now we get thousands x zillions. You can also use pillow and mattress protective covers. These are a soft vinyl and will protect from bedbugs burrowing into your bedding. Good luck!
