Should you continue to use the sprays and foggers forever?

Bed bug eggs take 6 to 10 days to hatch, so waiting for this length of time is the interval needed before you know if the bed bugs are gone. The easy way to tell is to buy some type of bed bug trap, such as climbup interceptors for each bed leg. If the interceptor traps stay empty for 2 to 3 weeks, then you should be bed bug free.

If you want to continue to treat the room, buy a good residual spray such as JT Eaton Blue Label or Phantom. Spray along the baseboard of the room being treated. Also, you can use bed bug dust or diatomaceous earth in cracks and crevices and gaps in furniture/bed frame to provided added protection. Resources for all products mentioned and instructions for use are in the resource.

Don’t be surprised if you need 2 to 3 treatments. Don’t use the foggers, as they can cause bed bugs to disperse and hide in walls, only to come out later. Stay with the use of vacuuming, steaming, knock down and residual sprays. Be sure to cover both your mattress and box spring in zippered bed bug covers.
