Question by Rocket from the office:
Bedbugs in our new place. Anyone with experience please advise?!?

We moved into a row home (like a brownstone) a week ago. The first day we saw dead insects near the baseboards of the upstairs rooms. I researched them – yep bedbugs. Then a few live ones creeped into the bed. Then, I awoke to find many of them streaming on the walls and ceilings of two of the bedrooms.
I told the landlord.
One exterminator came the next day. Sprayed in corners. No change.
I called the landlord again.
The next exterminator came – sprayed in more depth and fumigated. He guaranteed that they would not come back.
Two nights later – we see many live ones on the wall again. No bites in our bed – but paranoid we could carry them in somehow.

we had cleaned all our bedding and laundry believing the second exterminator and moved some stuff into the rooms (we had avoided bringing anything into the rooms.) We put plastic covers on the mattresses and duck taped the zippers. Now, we fear all our stuff – electronics, books, etc. is contaminated.

At this rate – the stress is ridiculous. We walk around our own home completely hypervigilant – unable to relax and terrified that we are stuck with this problem.

We don’t have enough money to move – period. We are inner city and sunk about 2500 bucks into this move thinking we were moving “up” to a better situation.

Is there any hope that they can get rid of these things or are we doomed with this?

Thankfully we only need to give a month’s notice to move – but the problem is getting 2500 together again for first month, last, and security deposit and finding a place in this city that works is very difficult – especially when you are a working professional who just doesn’t have the time and energy to put out on this. We don’t want to move – we like the place and the landlord and the entire situation would be perfect – if not for this plague!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you –
Whats really weird is that they cleaned our mattress – there were a few that made it – only a few – to the boxspring we saw dead after the extermination.

The bulk of them are in bedrooms that we want to use as an office, etc. There aren’t many if any at all – in the room where we sleep. Baffling.

Is your landlord paying for the exterminators or are you?

I wonder if the bugs you have are immune to the chemcials that they are using on them.

Maye look at a chemical free solution like BedBug Termiantor from a company called Kleen-free or something along that line. You can apply it yourself and you should see the bugs die on contact.

Since it is chemcial free, you can spray it on your mattress etc safely and it will not hurt you.

Just a thought – maybe the landlord would buy a gallon of it for you and if it works, he may thank you as well.

What do you think? Answer below.
