Question by sarahg:
BEDBUGS IN MY HOTEL ROOM! WHAT NEXT?

I am currently staying at a hotel and i have noticed that in my bed when i pulled back the sheets i found a bedbug (yes i have officially identified it to be a bedbug). the hotel let us change rooms, but i still cant help feeling i brought the infestation with me. i have been getting this strange patterns of what i thought it was (mosquito bites) on my stomach and upper legs.

i was wondering what do i now? i am going back home soon and what can i do to MAKE CERT IAN that i DO NOT bring ANY of the bedbugs with me. how can i get rid of them and what can i do about the bites.

THANKS SO MUCH

you should sue the hotel, my mom filed a law suit on this hotel once b/ they didn’t let her pay with cash.. and my mom didn’t want to pay wid credit card cuz one time she gave out her credit card # and stole $ 150 out of it. so you can try to sue them..

i’m only 14, and i don’t really know how to identify if you brought the infestation with you.

hope i helped at least a teeny weeny bit! :)))) =]]]

Bed bug bites are usually just an annoyance unless you develop a secondary infection from scratching. See a doctor if the bites are a problem (and send the bill to the hotel).

Taking bed bugs home IS a concern because bed bugs can hide in luggage & clothing. The room you moved to may also have a bed bug problem and it’s even possible it happened because you moved your possessions from the infected room to the new room (taking bed bugs with you).

Best would be to throw away your suitcase, give > all < of your clothing to the hotel for cleaning, move to a non-infected room, have your cleaned clothing delivered to the new room, and buy a new suitcase (give the bill to the hotel), If that won't work, get a plastic garbage bag from the hotel. If you are flying home, place your suitcase in the plastic bag when you collect it at baggage claim (at your home airport). If you are driving home, place your suitcase in the bag before putting it into your car (when starting your trip home). At home, transfer all of your clothing directly from the suitcase (still in the bag) to a washer and wash with hot water & lots of detergent. Items that need dry cleaning should go into another plastic bag and taken to the cleaners in the bag. Tell the cleaners your clothing may have bed bugs. Take the suitcase and non-washable items (ex. leather shoes) outside and treat everything with pesticide. You may want to get advice regarding what pesticide would be best. Leave the items outside for a day and then check for any signs of still-alive bed bugs. If the suitcase is not valuable you may want to consider throwing it away instead of hoping you killed all the bugs. Yo could also take the above listed actions before you start your trip home, but doing it a at a hotel may not be very practical. The above may not be necessary, but preventing a bed bug infestation is a lot easier than getting rid of one. You may also want to send any receipts for expenses to the hotel.

Go see a lawyer in town now! Unless you are so sore now. Go see a emergency room. You need treatment asap! 1/2 price lawyers in Las Vegas on Charleston. Check for fees firsts!
Could be 702 444-4444. I never used them, nor do I work for them.
