Bedbugs at work! What Should I Do?

Bedbugs at work! What Should I Do?

Today at work it was revealed that the locker room in the basement of a restaurant was infested with bedbugs in the past. It seems as if the critters were last spotted over two months ago. Management doesn’t seem to think they have a bedbug problem and think it is just a rumor. On the other hand some workers have and continue to take “preventative” measures like tying belongings in plastic bags or storing them elsewhere. The money i make at this job is good and i really can’t afford to leave but i don’t want to get bedbugs. What should I do??
the day before yesterday me and another employee were talking about it and the manager got irrationally angry and said he didn’t want to hear another word about it because it was three months ago and the problem was fixed. I wanted to tell him bedbugs can live up to a year but he was too angry.

I say store your belongings elsewhere. Can you keep your wallet on you and just change when you get home? Bedbugs are hard to get rid of once you have them. It may not be bedbugs though. Could be some other bug problem instead or, like your management said, someone could have made it up. Yeah, they may be covering their own butt, or some uneducated person at work threw a fit when a tiny bug walked across their clothes.

Check with a professional and see if you can slip in some bug killer in the basement without them knowing. No one should have to work in a dangerous environment. Also, you could make an anonymous phone call to the local health department. They can check on the problem, especially if there are patrons involved.
