I just returned from a trip and the place I stayed had bed bugs. What should I do?

I washed everything in hot water and dried it on hot, twice before returning home and once again once I got here. I also froze my books. Is there any other advice other then just waiting to see if I brought them with me?

You have done about all you can do at this point. Do watch for bites that show up overnight. Also, put a dustmite-proof mattress and box spring cover on your bed because they block bed bugs as well. You might want to steam clean your carpets in case any did escape and decide to lay eggs. If you do find bites but can’t find the bugs, you can hire out for one of the bedbug sniffing dogs–guaranteed they will find bedbugs if you have them. At that point, the exterminator can take it from there!

Make sure you clean your luggage and leave them open outside in the sun. Bedbugs don’t like sun.

I no longer stay in hotels for this reason.

Have a shower, and just relax. You’ve done enough.
