We used to see these in several of the hostels overseas. They would try all sorts of things and they would finally just remove and burn all wood pieces to the beds because the bugs just keep coming back. I would go straight to a professional exterminator. Using the over the counters first might make the bugs stronger and more resilient to the professional stuff. Also make sure any boots, sleeping bags, sheets, backpacks, etc that might have the bugs in them are thoroughly inspected and cleaned. Good luck.

Don’t bother with household sprays. Call a professional. You can’t spray enough or get everywhere without gassing yourself. In the mean time you can make a dent in the population by vacuuming everything! at one time: tear apart the bed down to the wood, side dressers empty and remove drawers, drapes, closet……wash the clothes, don’t forget the baseboards, vents, etc. Use a vacuum with a bag and immediately get the bag outside! This cleaning just got the adults, you still have eggs which will hatch.

Steam cleaning works but a special steam cleaner and you must get all the crevices. Once again, all at once, you don’t want to do half then come back the next day only to find they’ve moved back into the clean section.

Ugly job.
