My sister and I both just had bedbugs, unfortunately, it seems they can live for a year without having to feed. Put a cover on your mattress and that will be safe, and if you have bedding or pillows you want to keep but are worried about, put them in black trash bags and leave them in the hot sun for a few hours…it will fry them.

The common misconception is that bedbugs live on blood. Every bed has bedbugs in it. They feed of of the thousands of dead skin cells that you shed every night. A new bed would not last long at all without them.
